I put the noose around the ASMs neck while I was at Cisco... write me off-list if you want gory details (or search teh archives of this list ;-) iTouch (MRV Communications) InReach gear, Cyclades TS/ACS, and Digi CM series are all close to each other in pricing, though there are feature differences that may interest you. (Some have remote power control features that integrate the power control with console access in a Java GUI...some integrate well with a second network conenction (ethernet, modem, 802.11), and more. A new, lower-cost player is OpenGear, and their CM series has recently passed BREAK testing in my test lab. (If you are interested in which other gear has been tested, please rtake a look at my console server BREAK-off pages, http://www.conserver.com/consoles/BREAK-off/breakoff.html Regards, -Z- -----Original Message----- From: Mike Daigle Sent: Friday, July 29, 2005 5:21 AM To: users@conserver.com Subject: Terminal Server recommendations We are looking at replacing the terminal servers we use for console connections. We are currently using old Cisco ASMs with no problems but you know how old those are! Any good suggestions for terminal servers that work well with Conserver, don't have Sun BREAK issues, and are well priced? -- Mike Daigle \ | | Network Operations Project Supervisor \| /\ |~ |/ Computing and Network Services | \/ | |\ Room 011 Steacie Science Library UNIVERSITY Email: mdaigle@yorku.ca 4700 Keele St. Toronto Phone: 736-2100 ext.22730 Ontario, Canada M3J 1P3 For thousands of years mankind lived just like the animals; Then something happened that unleashed the power of his imagination; He learned to talk. -- Pink Floyd
