DCD on Netra

How does a RJ45 Sun Console like the Netra T1 detect loss of carrier if
there is no DCD line?  Usually I attach my DTR to the console's DCD so
it can detect a disconnect as a key to SIGHUP processes on that tty. Is
that just not a concern?
